About the event

We meet at Room 4

Join us for a Power Coffee with un-se Ecological Urban Development CEO, Sara Göransson-Balestra.

We are extremely excited about Sara's presentation* as part of IWIB's mission is to support the efforts to meet the  United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and un.se's work is critical to meet SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, as it is a clear example of how the transformative force of urbanization represents opportunity and challenge to meet several other sustainability challenges, such as SDG 1 (poverty reduction), SDG 4 (education), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy), SDG 8 (economic growth) and SDG 13 (climate action).

Sara will present the company's international trajectory since 2008 including their strategies for social integration, ethical housing developments and self-sufficient communities.

Sara Göransson in her own words:

‘I started in ecological building engineering before moving to architecture and planning. I combine these three elements in my role as chief executive. The seeds of what I believe and how I work were sown early in my career. My Masters thesis was called LoGlo, which is short for ‘act local for global change’ and that approach is still my focus today.

We have understood that as architects and urban designers, our role is limited when it comes to implementing our visions in the way they were intended. Therefore, we have evolved our role into becoming developers as well. In this way, we can make sure that the core values of a project are implemented without compromises.

un.se already manages property in Sweden worth SEK 2 billion and my role is to expand and grow the company within the Swedish context so that we can be a force for good both locally and globally. Through our projects we want to show that it’s possible to combine sound business principles with strong social and environmental responsibilities to create better cities for all.’
