Join our first IWIB Talk of 2022: 'What is The Metaverse?' Guest speaker, Emma Ridderstad - known as The Queen of Metaverse in Sweden. Emma will talk about the potential of this immersive technology and the many ways it will shape our lives in the not-so-distant future. 

Emma Ridderstad is the co-founder and CEO of Warpin Media, the leading XR software development company in the Nordics. Specializing in Virtual and Augmented Reality, the company's main focus is the fully in-house developed SAAS product Xelevate, enabling organizations to effectively create, distribute and execute VR training programs at scale.

Warpin Media was founded in Stockholm in 2016 and caters to customers in both the public and private sectors, with clients including fashion retailer H&M and Nordic postal services provider PostNord. With a background in media sales, Emma was previously the CEO of Modern Women Media, representing some of Sweden's most prominent female-focused digital platforms. She feels strongly about helping other women succeed and invests both time and effort in mentoring other female entrepreneurs.

FYI: Here are some key facts on the Metaverse:

1. The Metaverse is a shared virtual environment that people access via the internet. 

2. Technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are combined in the Metaverse to create a sense of "virtual presence."  

3. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes augmented reality glasses will eventually be as widespread as smartphones. 

4. In Oct. 2021 Facebook announced plans to create 10,000 new high-skilled jobs in the European Union (EU) to help shape the metaverse.
