A highlight on any calendar - Halloween!  A themed Afterwork of Networking, Cultural Engagement & Community, as we celebrate with a Halloween Happy Hour!

The traditions and importance of Halloween vary greatly among countries that observe it. A relatively new custom in Sweden, it has only been celebrated since the 1990s, a welcome diversion to the winter darkness.

Most scholars agree that Halloween originated around 2,000 years ago, when Celtic people in Europe celebrated the end of the harvest and the start of a new year in a festival called Samhain. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over the centuries, it transitioned from a pagan ritual to a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes, eating treats and trick-or-treating for kids and adults.
